Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini insists he “has not gone mad, but Serie B isn’t the end of the world” after a ninth change of Coach.

Walter Novellino picked up one point in four rounds and was sacked today, while Davide Ballardini is expected to return.

“We already have one foot in Serie B, we don’t have the mentality to survive,” Zamparini told Radio 24.

“We are not accustomed to battling it out with the same situations as Carpi and Frosinone. Going into Serie B isn’t the end of the world, I got relegated before with Paulo Dybala and Josip Ilicic in the squad.

“The last time we went down it cost me €30m, but this time at least there’s an important parachute payment for clubs that get relegated.”

Palermo have made nine different changes of management this season, having Beppe Iachini on the bench twice and Ballardini will also be entering a second stint.

“I will sell the club, even if we stay in Serie A. If I don’t manage to sell, then in any case I will not remain as President,” assured Zamparini.

“In our last few games we were just unbearable. Novellino got one point from four games. It was not easy to sack him, I care for him, but he is getting on a bit in years.

“People say I’ve gone mad, but that is not true. It was the Coaches who lost the plot and then lied about it.

“I only fired Iachini the first time, but by getting rid of one I ended up changing five times. I am the victim of these situations.

“Don’t forget three Coaches left, but it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t send them away.”
