Speaking to Stadio News, Zamparini said: "It was a beautiful game and a beautiful victory.

"I saw my team play well. We would be second in the table if they hadn't damaged us with repeated refereeing mistakes. We would have seven points extra.

"Other teams have four or five points extra. Yesterday Catania were unlucky against Roma."

Asked about speculation linking Massimo Maccarone with a move away from Palermo possibly to Fiorentina, he said: "I believe that he'll stay.

"We built a team at the beginning of the season without thinking this formation would be lucky. We will always adopt one striker, but in the future we might need two strikers.

"We await the return of Mauricio Pinilla and Abel Hernandez. The Uruguayan should be back in the next 10 days. We don't need other strikers. Only the newspapers think we do."

Pressed on whether Palermo will add to their squad in January, Zamparini said: "I will meet Delio Rossi as soon as possible. I believe that our market will only concentrate on sales.

"We have many offers. Teams have asked us for Acquah and Rigoni as well as Kasami. We also look for opportunities, but only those regarding players of quality."
