Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini claims he has no regrets about selling Edinson Cavani to Napoli during the summer.

The Uruguayan joined the ambitious Azzurri in a €17m deal and he's responded with 10 League goals so far.

Although the striker currently finds himself at the top of the Serie A scoring charts alongside Antonio Di Natale of Udinese, Zamparini is still satisfied with the sale.

"Selling Cavani was not a mistake," Zamparini noted on Friday. "The player wanted to leave and I promised him that I would allow him to go.

"You also have to remember that without Cavani's sale then we wouldn't have been able to sign Josip Ilicic."

The Slovenian attacking midfielder has been a revelation in Serie A since leaving Maribor over the summer.
