President Maurizio Zamparini says Alberto Gilardino is out of place in Palermo and reveals he wanted Coach Roberto Donadoni.
The Rosanero owner is hardly enjoying a positive season as the relegation zone is only three points behind his team, and in his frustration he is denying the effectiveness of his own top players.
“Alberto Gilardino is a great player, but this isn't the right environment for him,” he told Il Resto del Carlino. “He's a champion in the box, but this team puts the ball in the box only very rarely.

“Alberto Gilardino is a great player, but this isn't the right environment for him,” he told Il Resto del Carlino. “He's a champion in the box, but this team puts the ball in the box only very rarely.
“I've been unlucky with the coaches I signed as of late. I considered Donadoni in October, when I wanted to change [Giuseppe] Iachini.
“But Bologna were faster than me. Then I took [Davide] Ballardini back, because he'd done well with me, but things went the way they did and he chose to leave of his own volition.
“As for [Guillermo Barros] Schelotto, I wanted to sign him in June, so I could start the season with him. His agents and his lawyers assured me that everything was ok and I trusted them. They're the ones who messed up,” he said, in reference to the fact that the Argentinian Coach was unable to work due to legal problems.
“The risk of being demoted is always there. After all I was already demoted to Serie B with a stronger team than this, when I had [Ezequiel] Munoz, [Josep] Ilicic and [Paulo] Dybala.
“In any case Iachini seems to have drive, I hope he can get this team back no track.”
