Luca Toni has reflected on how it ‘would be an honour’ should form for Verona see him picked once more for Italy.
The 36-year-old is enjoying a renaissance to his career at the Bentegodi and, on from scoring twice in yesterday’s 3-1 win at Udinese, it was put to him that he could be in contention to make the plane for Brazil.
“I am thinking about doing well. Then it is for Prandelli to decide,” Toni has responded to reporters this week.

“I am thinking about doing well. Then it is for Prandelli to decide,” Toni has responded to reporters this week.
“For me, it would be a pleasure and an honour to go to the World Cup, but whatever happens there would be no issue.
“For me it was a good way to begin 2014, I am very happy to have scored and for this win. Hopefully this will be a great year.
“We ended 2013 very well and we have come out [in 2014] strongly. We had a great game, picking up three important points.”
Toni is seen as one of a number of options open to Cesare Prandelli, particularly in light of Giuseppe Rossi’s knee injury, which has ruled him out for up to three months.
“I am very sorry for him, because he is an asset of Italian football. I played with him last year, he is a guy who has character, he is a champion and we look forward to the World Cup.
“Will I go to Brazil? I do not know, let’s see what will happen in June.”
