A worker has died after a fall at the Arena Amazonia in Manaus, which will host Italy-England at the World Cup.

The 22-year-old construction worker is believed to have fallen nearly 35 metres when a cable snapped as he was making adjustments to the roof.

Named as Marcleudo de Melo Ferreira, he died in hospital in Manaus early this morning.

This is now the third stadium for the 2014 World Cup that has seen workers die after Brasilia and Sao Paulo.

There continue to be huge delays in the construction of the arenas, as Brazilian organisers are expected to miss FIFA deadlines for their completion.
