According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Romelu Lukaku’s stay at Inter beyond 2023 is not guaranteed as the club and Simone Inzaghi are disappointed by the striker’s second spell at the Stadio Meazza.

Lukaku is dealing with injuries this season and will be sidelined for tomorrow’s Coppa Italia clash against Parma due to a fresh knee issue.

Lukaku has scored two goals in eight appearances this term and was introduced in the second half of Inter’s 2-2 draw against Monza on Saturday.

According to Gazzetta, Inter directors are making their assessments and Lukaku’s stay at the club beyond 2023 is not guaranteed.

The Serie A giants invested circa €20m to bring the striker back from Chelsea last summer, considering salary and loan fee, and they’d need as much to extend his loan until June 2024.

Club directors President Steven Zhang and coach Simone Inzaghi are making their assessments, knowing they do not have an option to make Lukaku’s move permanent in the summer.

The 29-year-old is not in Chelsea’s plans and wants to remain at Inter beyond this season, but the Nerazzurri expect more from him in the second part of the campaign.

  1. The problem is Inzaghi not Lukaku.
Conte left a strong team and Inzaghi has been destroying it since the first day.
