Sky Sport Italia report that Roma are increasingly confident they will be able to strike a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, however, it is unlikely to be a quick transaction.

Sky highlight the fact that Sanches is Jose Mourinho’s preferred option to come in and bolster the Giallorossi’s midfield options,  but PSG have not yet given their approval for the transfer.

Due to Roma’s delicate financial situation in the transfer market, it is likely that if Sanches were to come in, he would sign on loan initially with an option-to-buy clause.

Sky also point out that the recent arrival of Luis Enrique will have also slowed proceedings down slightly and that Sanches will likely want to audition in front of the new coach before signing off on a move away from Paris.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been included in PSG’s squad to play Le Havre in a pre-season friendly on Friday afternoon.

Still, Roma are confident of a deal eventually materialising, however, if they are unable to land Sanches, Sky claim that Roma could remain in talks with PSG to bring Leandro Paredes back to the Stadio Olimpico instead.
