Championship side Leicester City remain in talks with Inter over a January move for midfielder Stefano Sensi, however, a shortage of midfield options due to disciplinary issues could cause the Nerazzurri to delay negotiations with the Foxes.

Inter picked up four bookings on their way to winning the Supercoppa Italiana final against Napoli on Monday.

Cautions for Lautaro Martinez and Stefan de Vrij are not too much cause for concern, however, starting midfielders Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella have now picked up five yellows a piece for the season, and are now suspended for Sunday evening’s Serie A clash against Fiorentina.

In Serie A, Inter had found themselves at the top of the table before jetting off to Saudi Arabia for the newly-formatted Supercoppa. However, as Juventus did not participate, they have now played one league game more than Simone Inzaghi’s men, and are now one point above Inter in the league standings.

Inter’s next game after Fiorentina will be against Juventus in a crucial game in the 2023-24 Serie A title race.

As Calhanoglu and Barella will be suspended for the Fiorentina match, Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asslani will likely be called in to accompany Henrikh Mkhitaryan in midfield according to reports from Calciomercato.com.

On the bench, there will also be places for Davy Klaassen, as well as the Leicester-linked Sensi.

If Sensi is to complete a move to Leicester, it is unlikely to happen until the week following Inter’s game against Fiorentina, which kicks off at 19.45 GMT on Sunday evening.
