Romelu Lukaku has hardly featured for Inter since his return on loan from Chelsea but he could finally see action again soon.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward returned to the Nerazzurri on an €8m loan from the Blues in the summer, keen to rediscover his form after a negative year in West London. Things started well for Lukaku and he scored a goal and provided an assist in the first two games of the season, but he was quickly forced to the sidelines with a muscle injury.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku’s return has been pushed back several times now but the Inter medical staff are finally confident that he’ll be back in the fold soon, possibly taking part in the upcoming Champions League game against Barcelona.

The Belgian forward has not wanted to rush his recovery and risk exacerbating his injury so he’s been careful with his physical condition, and things are finally looking up.

The return of Lukaku will give Simone Inzaghi’s squad a serious boost in attack, which is key as they look to shake off their disappointing start to the season.

  1. A half fit Lukaku will certainly NOT be a big boost to Inter.

We need him at peak fitness. Sadly, the only way to get there is through playing matches!
