The FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chine is set to hold meetings with Francesco Acerbi and Juan Jesus on Wednesday as part of an investigation into the events that unfolded during the 1-1 draw between Inter and Napoli in Serie A on Sunday.

What happened between Acerbi and Juan Jesus

Acerbi was accused by Juan Jesus of using an alleged racist term during a brief confrontation at the Satdio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro.

The Napoli defender initially ‘forgave’ his Nerazzurri counterpart for his remarks, while Acerbi has maintained that he had no degrading, disparaging or racist intent.

Acerbi has insisted that he did not use racist language towards Juan Jesus, which led the Brazilian to release an Instagram post sharing his version of events.

Acerbi has been removed from Luciano Spalletti’s Italy national team squad for friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador following the incident on Sunday.

Certain reports suggest that Acerbi could face a 10-game Serie A suspension if he is found to be in breach of Article 28 of the Code of Sports Justice.

What happens next

In order for the authorities to reach a conclusion, they will first have to conduct their own investigation. FIGC Prosecutor Chine has scheduled meetings with both Acerbi and Juan Jesus on Wednesday according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
