West Ham United reportedly met Genoa’s €40m asking price for Krzysztof Piatek, but they already gave their word to wait for Milan.

According to Sportitalia, the Premier League outfit stepped up their offer to match the €40m plus bonuses demand.

However, Genoa still turned it down, because President Enrico Preziosi had already promised first refusal on Piatek to Milan.

The two Serie A clubs are very close and have completed multiple transfers in recent years.

Sky Sport Italia maintain this evening that Milan director Leonardo will meet with patrons Elliott Management on Friday to ask for the Piatek funds.

If they don’t agree to cover the costs, then the next choice would be Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea – a deal sent their way because Milan won’t release Gonzalo Higuain from his loan with option to buy until they have a replacement.

If the Rossoneri do go for Batshuayi, then West Ham will be able to purchase Poland international Piatek at the agreed fee.
