Inter and Juventus target Timo Werner has confessed that he would rather move abroad than join RB Leipzig’s rivals Bayern Munich.

Sky Sport Italia reported last night the two Serie A sides were in for Werner, and he has now dropped his biggest hint yet that he will be leaving Germany, despite Bayern’s interest.

“Bayern is a great club, there’s no need to talk about that,” he told Bild.

“Hansi Flick has also proven this season that he’s a very good coach. But if I should change clubs again, I would rather go abroad than to Bayern.

“It’s just that the challenge of another league would appeal to me a bit more than a change within the Bundesliga.

“Of course, there also needs to be a mutual appreciation. That’s why I chose RB Leipzig at the time. Because of that, I’d choose the club that gave me the same feeling.”

However, Leipzig sporting director Oliver Mintzlaff warned there would be no discounts on his club’s part for the striker.

“We should sell before buying. But I think we can make few sales and, above all, we don’t want to sell our players below their market value,” he underlined to Sport1.

“We have a good team. If we weren’t able to play, we absolutely couldn’t deal with new transfers; this would be the biggest disadvantage.

“With this COVID-19 crisis, we currently have other problems besides contracts. We know the terms of our players’ contracts and know them very well, especially those of our best players.

“It wouldn’t be good of us to let them leave for nothing. This is the case for Timo Werner and it’ll be the same for Dayot Upamecano. I have the financial aspects in mind.”

Werner, who has scored 27 goals this season and is contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2023, is said to be valued at around the €70m mark.

He has also been linked with Liverpool and Barcelona.
