Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Inter’s offer for Lukas Podolski is ‘a joke’, and hopes the player will stay.

The Nerazzurri are believed to be close to sealing a loan move for the German forward, with representatives from the club meeting with Arsenal in London, and Coach Roberto Mancini admitting an interest.

However, speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s game with Southampton on Thursday, the Gunners manager has dismissed Inter’s bid.

“They talk. There is only talks. Podolski is a player of Arsenal football club and I want him to stay,” the Frenchman insisted.

“Apart from that, what is to be professional is that as long as you are somewhere, you give your best to justify your wages and your love for the club.

“I hope that he will still be an Arsenal player at the end of January.

“Inter? That is a joke. Inter is not serious.”
