Watford – owned by Udinese patrons the Pozzo family – have moved on to their fourth Coach of the season.

The club play in the English Championship and started the campaign with Giuseppe Sannino at the helm, but he resigned at the start of September.

Oscar Garcia took over, but suffered a health scare and was replaced by Billy McKinlay at the end of September.

Today McKinlay was sacked after just eight days and two games, hiring Serbian Coach Slavisa Jokanovic.

“Our job is always to act in the best long-term interests of this football club. There can be no compromise on this – whatever the circumstances,” wrote owner Gino Pozzo in a statement.

“I fully support and endorse the view from our technical staff that, given the talented squad which has been assembled and our position in the league, an experienced head Coach with a winning pedigree is of primary importance to help ensure the success we are all striving for.

“The supporters of Watford have always been very understanding towards our project here and I am certain they will continue to do everything they can to support the new Coach and his squad.”

The Pozzo family own Watford in England, Udinese in Serie A and Granada in Spain, so the three clubs often loan or sell players to each other.
