Watch Sampdoria’s touching tribute to their legendary former striker Gianluca Vialli, who helped guide the Blucerchiati to their first ever Scudetto.

Vialli joined Sampdoria in 1984 at the age of 20, being reunited with childhood friend Roberto Mancini. The pair formed an incredible partnership on the Ligurian coast, earning the nickname ‘the goal twins’, and they guided the Blucerchiati to new heights in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

With Vialli and Mancini leading the line, Sampdoria won a number of major honours in this period, including the 1990-91 Scudetto and three Coppa Italia titles. They also finished as runner’s up in the European Cup, losing to Johan Cruyff’s legendary Barcelona side.
