A new collective bargaining contract for Serie A players has been agreed, which will see those with long-term bans have their wages stopped.

The one-year contract was worked out today between the Players’ Association (AIC) President Damiano Tommasi and the Lega Serie A.

Among the new terms of the unionised deal, players suspended for betting, sporting fraud or doping will have their wages stopped.

It could have massive implications considering the number of players currently facing charges in the betting trial.
