Mergim Vojvoda felt the weight of the ongoing war in Ukraine and noted that ‘there are no winners’.

The 27-year-old is from Kosovo and so understands the effects of war on a nation and it’s people. Russia invaded Ukraine earlier this week and increasingly serious sanctions are now being laid upon them, with significant support being sent to the defending Ukraine.

Speaking to DAZN today, Vojvoda discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine and his feelings on the matter.

“It’s not easy to talk about it, we all follow what happens. Those who live this know what it feels like, whether they are Ukrainians or Russians. We hope it will all stop quickly. In wars there are no winners.”

A number of Serie A coaches have also commented on the situation, making a number of poignant comments and observations. Words from Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, Torino coach Ivan Juric and Hellas Verona coach Igor Tudor can be found below.

There has also been a sporting impact to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. UEFA have moved the Champions League final from St Petersburg to Paris and the Polish and Czech national teams are refusing to play against Russia in the upcoming 2022 World Cup play-offs.
