The agent of Benjamin Stambouli has claimed that Fiorentina's tardiness cost them the chance to sign the midfielder from Montpellier.
The 24-year-old is closing in on a move to Tottenham, but he could have been the Viola’s had they acted quicker, according to David Martinez, a representative of the agency that serves Stambouli's sporting interests.
“It was Stambouli's decision not to sign with Fiorentina,” Martinez told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“The Premier League was simply Benjamin's first choice, and we received a concrete offer from England.
“Fiorentina lost too much time to close the deal with Montpellier. They wasted about two weeks, and it was a mistake [on their part].”
Despite their inability to land Stambouli, Fiorentina have bolstered their midfield with deals for Milan Badelj and Jasmin Kurtic.
