The Serie A club are believed to have taken to the news bitterly and could now take legal action against the player.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Salah's original contract gave Fiorentina an option to purchase the player for €18m by December 31.
Salah reportedly also had an agreement that allowed him to turn down an extension of his contract with la Viola, but that was not part of the original contract itself.
Furthermore that agreement stipulated that the player had to provide Fiorentina with an answer by June 30, which Salah failed to do in spite of the club's repeated probing.
The 23-year-old may attempt to enforce that agreement legally, but the process is bound to take time.
As the player already turned down an extension with the Gigliati, the club have decided to enforce their original contract and expect the Egyptian to show up with the rest of the team for training in Moena, on July 13.
Salah could refuse to show up at the training camp, thus making a public statement that he is no longer a Fiorentina player.
This would pave the way for other clubs to make a move for him, with Inter believed to be among the most interested parties.
