According to Corriere Fiorentino, Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino offered €3m to take the Atalanta goalkeeper on loan for the season, plus another €7m for a permanent deal next summer, however the Orobici demanded €5m up front.
La Viola then suffered defeat in their pursuit of Obiang as West Ham United rejected their proposal of loaning the player for nothing and purchasing him for €5.5m at the end of the arrangement.
Their reported tightening of the purse strings comes despite receiving €27m from Chelsea for left-back Marcos Alonso earlier on Wednesday.
