Fiorentina’s Josip Ilicic is a target for Aston Villa, according to reports in the British Press.

The Slovenian midfielder has made only five Serie A starts this season, scoring one goal for the Viola in Serie A and another in the Europa League.

The Daily Mirror claims that Fiorentina are ready to sell the player, with English side Aston Villa joining Torino in the hunt for the winger.

The newspaper reports that the Artemio Franchi side will allow Ilicic to leave on loan in January, with Paul Lambert’s team at the head of the queue.

The Villains would then have the option of purchasing Ilicic outright in the summer for around €4.5m.

Such a move would represent a significant loss for the Viola, as the 26-year-old cost over €9m when he moved from Palermo in 2013.
