As expected, Sassuolo and Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca will arrive in London this evening and have his West Ham United medical tomorrow.

The centre-forward was spotted at Rome’s Ciampino Airport, where he was getting ready to board a private jet bound for the United Kingdom.

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali confirmed yesterday that the reported details of the transfer were accurate – a €36m fee, plus €6m of add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of any future sell-on fee.

Paris Saint-Germain had been in advanced negotiations for Scamacca, but failed to match the asking price, at best offering €30m plus bonuses.

He will also sign a five-year contract, with option to add a sixth.

The 23-year-old found the net 16 times in 36 Serie A appearances last season, which also earned him seven senior caps for Italy.
