Genoa and Inter were forced to halt their Serie A match for eight minutes this evening due to poor visibility caused by fireworks and flares.

It had already been raining heavily in Genoa for much of the day, which contributed to the smoke from the pyrotechnics remaining over the pitch for quite a while.

When it became impossible to see from one end of the pitch to the other, referee Daniele Doveri had to stop play for circa eight minutes.

That gave time for the smoke to clear and the two sets of players meanwhile took the time for refreshments and extra instructions on the touchline.
