Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal is not going to be risked in Chile’s friendly in midweek against Ecuador, due to a slight groin injury.

The 25-year-old Bianconero, who played the full 120 minutes of Saturday’s Super Cup win over Napoli in Beijing, reportedly complained of some ‘muscle pain’ after the game.

In light of a recent groin injury the player sustained this summer, Juve have requested that the player not travel to New York for Chile’s match with Ecuador, as confirmed by head Coach Claudio Borghi.

“He will recover in Turin, he has physical problems and his absense complicates things,” Borghi told reporters.

“They have informed us that the groin injury is new and it was not advisable for him to have such a long journey.”
