Gianluca Vialli confessed he’d “like to end my career in the role of director,” fuelling reports of a Sampdoria takeover.

The former Blucerchiati striker has long been linked with a key role in an American investment firm’s attempted purchase of the club from current President Massimo Ferrero.

“I would like to end my career in the role of director, having been a player, Coach and TV commentator,” Vialli told news agency Ansa.

If the Samp takeover doesn’t happen, then Vialli has another offer on the table to take a managerial role with the Italy squad, working alongside his former teammate Roberto Mancini.
