Italy and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti will miss international duty with an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old went off during last night’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

He underwent X-Rays that ruled out fractures, but today PSG announced Verratti has a sprained left ankle.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there will be further tests to diagnose a potential lesion to the ligament.

If that is confirmed, he’d be out of action for around a month.

In any case, Verratti is ruled out of Italy friendlies against Belgium on November 13 and Romania on November 17.

These were valuable games to test him out ahead of Euro 2016.
