Verratti, an Under-21 international, is uncapped at full level and only has experience of Serie B football with Pescara this term.

“I’m surprised, but very happy,” stated the teenager. “If this is a dream then I hope that I never wake up.

“I want to thank everyone who has believed in me and my family that always stayed close to me. I also thank Pescara for allowing me to grow as a footballer and a person.”

A number of Pescara players have caught the eye this season under 4-3-3 Czech tactician Zdenek Zeman.
