Hellas Verona have confirmed that centre-forward Thomas Henry has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, therefore ending January transfer speculation.

The striker was visibly distraught when his knee buckled beneath him during the Serie A match against Lecce at the weekend.

Medics immediately feared the worst and that was confirmed by specialist tests today, as Henry has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee.

He will go under the knife at a clinic in Lyon with the surgery performed by Professor Cottet on Wednesday January 25.

It is a blow for Verona and for Henry, because the forward had been heavily linked with a January transfer away from the Stadio Bentegodi.

There was interest from Salernitana, Empoli and Genoa, but also abroad with Belgian side RSC Anderlecht.

The 28-year-old is now expected to be out of action for circa six months.

He had scored two goals and provided one assist in 16 Serie A appearances for Verona this season.
