Hellas Verona have reportedly started talks with Sunderland for goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

They are looking for a new shot-stopper following the change of Coach from Andrea Mandorlini to Gigi Del Neri.

First choice Rafael received a three-match ban for elbowing an opponent, while Pierluigi Gollini is not considered experienced enough.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the two clubs are in talks to take Mannone on loan with option to buy.

Verona face competition, as the goalkeeper is also of interest to Bournemouth and Reading.

The 27-year-old started out in the Atalanta youth academy, but has spent the vast majority of his career in England.

He moved to Arsenal in July 2005, going on to spells at Barnsley, Hull City and since 2013 Sunderland.
