Juan Sebastian Veron claims it is “impossible” to compare Inter striker Lautaro Martinez to one player because he is ‘a mix of Batistuta, Aguero and Crespo’.

After 13 goals in just 19 matches, Veron agrees Lautaro is showing his talent this season, waving away his own label as a “magician”.

“It’s not me that’s the magician, this must be clear,” the ex-Nerazzurri man told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s Lautaro Martinez who is great. He was in Argentina and now he is in Italy.”

“It’s Lautaro Martinez who is great. He was in Argentina and now he is in Italy.”

He didn’t want to make any comparisons to other Argentine hitmen, rather that the 22-year-old was a mix of Gabriel Batistuta, Sergio Aguero and Hernan Crespo.

“It’s impossible [to compare him to a single player]”, said Veron. “Lautaro is a mix.

“Let me explain… I see certain movements of Aguero, especially when the team are going forward and pulling himself away to dictate the passing.

“He’s got the power of Batistuta in his shot and he is as cunning as Crespo in the box. He can always put himself in the right place at the right time.

The former Lazio and Parma midfielder concluded that despite his young age, Lautaro had the “personality” to make it at the top level.

“He’s got personality, despite being only 22 years old, and he combines his quality with quantity.

“Look carefully at his performances and you will discover the many things Lautaro does. Almost all of them are good.

“He’s definitely not a classic centre-forward like Batistuta, but rather a complete striker.”
