Juan Sebastian Veron believes Inter and Mauro Icardi have “reached a point of no return” after the striker was dropped again for refusing to apologise.

Icardi has not played since he was stripped of the captaincy on February 13, officially due to a knee injury, but after returning to training this week thanks to intensive negotiations from lawyer and intermediary Paolo Nicoletti, he was again nowhere to be seen in the squad list against Lazio.

Icardi has not played since he was stripped of the captaincy on February 13, officially due to a knee injury, but after returning to training this week thanks to intensive negotiations from lawyer and intermediary Paolo Nicoletti, he was again nowhere to be seen in the squad list against Lazio.

Coach Luciano Spalletti only referred to “something happening” on Friday and multiple sources report the Coach asked him if he had anything to say to the squad, but he refused.

“I am only a spectator here, so I say what I see from the outside,” Inter Forever player Veron told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I know we all have difficult moments, but I always maintained a player must put the team, the club and respect first. It’s disappointing, because it looks as if they have reached a point of no return.

“Mauro did so well at Inter and can still give so much. Inter did not deserve to end up in this situation. I hope they can meet up soon and work out the situation.”
