“I often watch games with Kante so I can steal a few secrets from his playing style,” revealed Veretout to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I often watch games with Kante so I can steal a few secrets from his playing style,” revealed Veretout to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He was in my view the symbol of the France side that won the World Cup this year. I am experimenting with this new tactical project of being a deep-lying playmaker in front of the defence and I really like it, but I have so much to learn.
“Fortunately, I have a great teacher in Stefano Pioli. He is demanding in training, but also very encouraging. I hope to continue working with him for many years.
“I love everything about Italian football, from the focus on tactical details to the passion of the people and presence of so many great champions. You’ll see that after Cristiano Ronaldo, many more star names will follow.”
Fiorentina go head-to-head with Lazio for a place in Europe and could even target the top four.
“The key is to take it one day at a time with the objective of getting back into Europe,” added Veretout.
“The great thing about Fiorentina is that we can all score goals. We’ve got great strikers like Giovanni Simeone and Federico Chiesa, midfielders with an eye for goal such as Marco Benassi, plus defenders like German Pezzella and Vitor Hugo who are strong in the air on set plays.
“It means our opponents never know where the danger is coming from. We attack and defend as a unit of 10 men, just like the France team that won the World Cup.”
