Torino Coach Giampiero Ventura insists there is “no war with the fans” as he hopes to turn the tide against Lazio tomorrow.

The tactician was critical of the ultras for failing to support the team after their surprise home defeat to Parma.

“In all honesty, I don’t want to change the world. I am just trying to respond positively to what was asked of me when I arrived here,” said Ventura.

“I think I didn’t communicate my ideas effectively. When at the end of the game I said we needed to grow bit by bit, I was not criticising the fans.

“However, I also add that it is difficult to talk about planning and growth if some players are jeered to begin with and judgement is based solely on results.”

“The fans have been the most important element of the club since I came to Torino and I certainly cannot criticise them. I am sorry if my words were misinterpreted.

“Torino cannot do without their fans and we must work to ensure they are proud of us. I say it openly: there is no war with the fans, at all.”
