Giampiero Ventura is the new Coach of Torino, the Serie B club have now confirmed.

Ventura was linked with the position late last week once previous target Stefano Colantuono signed a new contract with Atalanta.

The tactician, who will be presented to the media on Wednesday, has signed a 12-month deal which sees him tied to Toro until June 2012.

"I'm very happy to be with a great club like Torino," stated the former Pisa and Cagliari boss.

Toro were looking for a new Coach after failing to even get into the play-offs at the end of another disappointing season.

Ventura, who was sacked by relegated Bari mid-term, is famed for an attractive 4-4-2 system that can be transformed into a 4-2-4 when necessary.

The 63-year-old beat competition from Massimo Ficcadenti and Delio Rossi to net the job.

Toro appointed Franco Lerda last June but he was sacked on March 9, only to be recalled 11 days later after Giuseppe Papadopulo was quickly dismissed.
