The Granata are back in the race for European qualification after a 3-1 victory away to Verona, stretching their unbeaten run to five wins and four draws.

“It’s too early to talk about Europe, which until now had seemed unthinkable,” Ventura told Sky Sport Italia.

“This game confirmed our improvement, but also that we need to work and not risk letting our opponents back in at the end.

“In any case, you don’t put together four consecutive victories without putting yourself up for the challenge.

“People said that without Cerci and Immobile we wouldn’t even be able to play football, yet here we are.

“Without making proclamations, we got to work and here we are reaping the rewards of that effort. We are in the Europa League Round of 32 with a pretty small squad, so they all deserve praise.

“I think of Josef Martinez, who has enormous capabilities and when he realises that he’ll be remarkable.

“We got back to training with a smile on our faces and the desire to collaborate, which are all components we were missing at the start of the season.”
