Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini reiterates that Franco Vazquez will ‘definitely stay until June’ and says ‘it’s hard to tie down players with chains.’

The Italy international is widely expected to leave Sicily, but the Rosanero owner continues to deny the possibility of a January departure.

The attacking midfielder is reportedly not short on admirers, with Inter, Milan, Napoli and ‘two English clubs’ chasing him, according to Zamparini.

“Vazquez will definitely stay until June, then it depends on how we want to build Palermo for the next year,” he said to Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“It’s difficult to tie down players with chains who receive offers in the mercato of salaries three times higher than what they get here.

“The finances make the difference, but economic differences can be reduced by a great Coach. I’m thinking about Giampaolo’s Empoli.”

Zamparini also reflected ono the dismissal of Coach Beppe Iachini recently, which sparked negative reactions from some members of the squad including Enzo Maresca.

“Maresca isn’t the whole team,” he said.

“A few players thanked him, the team isn’t with Iachini but with the club. His cycle was finished.

“Call him back? I hope not. Firing a Coach is never good. At Sassuolo they have Di Francesco who is building a cycle, but behind him there’s also a great businessman.”
