Eduardo Vargas is on the verge of leaving Napoli for Queens Park Rangers, on an initial loan deal for the season.

The young Chile international was linked with a move to the Premier League in weekend reports, with QPR seen as up against fellow London outfit Arsenal for his signature.

The player’s agent confirmed an exit from the San Paolo was looking likely and it was initially believed that Arsenal had the advantage.

However, indications from late on Monday night are that the 24-year-old has instead said yes to QPR.

It is understood from more than one outlet in Italy that the attacker is set for an initial loan switch out to Harry Redknapp’s team and that it could be completed in a matter of hours.

Since moving to Napoli in 2012, Vargas has had loan spells with Gremio and Valencia.
