The Dutch midfielder was stretchered off on Tuesday night just 30 minutes into his first start for the Rossoneri, since completing a summer loan move from Chelsea.

Milan confirmed yesterday evening that the 21-year-old has sustained ligament damage to his ankle, although they reported that understanding the extent of the damage will only come through further examinations.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport suspect that Van Ginkel is certainly out of upcoming matches with Cesena and Chievo and that his first possible return fixture would come after the international break, against Verona on October 19.

This is the same date that Diego Lopez and Riccardo Saponara have both apparently been handed for comebacks from respective injuries.
