UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin says a decision should be made on fans’ attendance at Champions League and Europa League games by ‘July 10’.

The two tournaments are set to adopt a Final Eight format in Portugal and Germany respectively, with games to be played behind closed doors as it stands.

However, according to Ceferin, that could change before the draws for those fixtures take place next Friday.

“We’re in close contact with Portuguese and German authorities, and on Tuesday I talked to the Portuguese Prime Minister personally,” Ceferin told EFE.

“We’ll follow the recommendations of the authorities and make a decision soon, most likely before the draw on July 10.

“We’d like the fans to be there, of course, but we won’t compromise the safety of those involved, even if it’s sad to think that the most important match in European football could be played in an empty stadium.”
