The 25-year-old has been with the Portuguese champions since 2012 but has been out on a string of loan spells in recent seasons.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Bianconeri have made initial contact with the Lisbon club over the possibility of signing the former Hamburg, Reading, Wolves and Deportivo La Coruna player.
