Ciro Immobile scored his 200th goal in the Lazio jersey to give his team a massive victory in the Champions League to climb back up the standings.

The Biancocelesti were beaten 3-1 in Rotterdam without their fans, just as none of the Dutch supporters were allowed at the Olimpico due to previous clashes. Nicolò Casale was injured and Adam Marusic nursing a bruised ankle, though Ciro Immobile had only his second start in five weeks. Feyenoord missed Yankuba Minteh, but had captain Gernot Trauner back in the squad a month after a knee issue.

It was a very aggressive start from the hosts, Mattia Zaccagni brought down on the edge of the box with Bart Nieukwoop booked within 50 seconds.

Felipe Anderson had penalty appeals waved away on seven minutes for what appeared to be a borderline challenge in the box.

Nieukwoop came off worse in a horrible clash of heads with Elseid Hysaj and was stretchered off clutching his forehead, as the medics struggled to patch up the cut.

Santiago Gimenez sprung the offside trap for an angled drive that Ivan Provedel just got his fingertips to, pushing it round the far post. Mats Wieffer then nodded the resulting corner over the bar.

Paixao then cut back inside Manuel Lazzari to hit the side-netting, but in first half stoppages it was Lazio who broke the deadlock.

Felipe Anderson dinked an inspired ball over the top and Geertruida was keeping Immobile onside, though he still had a lot to do getting around the goalkeeper to deposit into an empty net from a tight angle. It was his 200th goal in the Lazio jersey.

Alessio Romagnoli’s header from a corner was just over the bar, but Feyenoord came out for the restart with a series of corners, including Patric deflecting the Paixao strike.

Luis Alberto hit the woodwork directly from the corner flag, but there was also a push on the goalkeeper.

Paixao’s free kick found Gimenez for a glancing header just wide of the far post, but the Aquile held on under pressure and threatened a second in stoppages with Pedro threading through for Taty Castellanos, the finish deflected over.

Provedel had the last word with a save on Ueda in the final kick of the game.
