The Azzurrini went into the game with the backing of some of the senior team's most famous stars, but they were up against a team that had won all games in the tournament so far.

However the match did not prove as tense as onlookers expected. The Italians took the lead at the 27', after a foul on Andrea Favilli led to a penalty.

Federico Dimarco converted the penalty and confirmed his ability on dead ball shots in the second half, when he doubled the lead at the 60' with a beautiful free kick.

The game was opened again in the closing minutes, when a corner for England led to an unfortunate own goal by Alberto Picchi, but the Three Lions were unable to equalise and the final went to the Italians.
