Cesare Prandelli says Italy’s players will have the chance to discuss how to use Twitter during the World Cup, but he has some advice.

Some countries competing this summer are expected to ban use of the social media tool, but the Azzurri’s players will have a chance to present a solution to their CT on how best to approach it.

“It will be the first item on the agenda in the retreat, because they can be a problem, as can the tweets of family members,” Prandelli has explained to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Players will have two to three days to introduce their ideas. I would not want to ban anything to anyone, I trust them very much in the sense of responsibility.

“Then, it is clear that I will decide whether or not to accept their proposed solution.

“If one has something important to say, they must have the courage to go and say it at a Press conference.”

The CT considered who he feels will be the countries to look out for this summer.

“Brazil above them all, including Spain, and not only for the atmosphere – they have strong strikers who never fall offside and return to help defend.

“Possible surprises? Belgium, Colombia, France, even though no-one is talking about France.

“The surprise player? Pogba can confirm at the World Cup the champion we have seen in the League.

“Timeouts during games? FIFA has established that two of our games are considered at risk [Costa Rica and Uruguay]. The two Coaches may agree on breaks before the game – it is left to our common sense during the course.”

Italy will base themselves at a training complex in Mangaratiba.

“The place was optioned first by Germany and in the end we have taken it. It has been chosen to optimise daily work, to avoid wasting time and energy.

“I tried to find a place with a field inside the camp, and then we worked to have use of the military airport 40 miles away. I should point out that this is not a luxury resort.”

Prandelli is in agreement with the FIGC over a new two-year contract to commit him to the national team until 2016, but it has yet to be signed.

“There is no problem – there is only the signature to go and although I signed four years ago in a second, this time we will need a nanosecond. Did I receive any phone calls from anyone? In respect of directors, no…”
