Igor Tudor was still far from satisfied with Hellas Verona’s 4-2 victory away to Sassuolo, even though it allowed them to leapfrog their opponents in the Serie A table. ‘We should’ve scored seven or eight goals!’

The result was achieved despite missing a large number of players due to bans, COVID-19, injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations.

It also catapulted them into the European qualification zone, but the coach wanted no part in that conversation.

“This is a brick in the wall we are building towards safety and 39 points, nothing more than that,” insisted Tudor on DAZN.

“Until we get there, we cannot think about anything else. The lads had a good game today and I congratulate them. The club was exemplary in dealing with the COVID-19 situation over the past few weeks.”

Antonin Barak scored a hat-trick along with Gianluca Caprari’s strike, but Tudor was still far from satisfied.

“We should’ve scored seven or eight goals. Sometimes, football can punish you for not taking those chances, just as we saw last week against Salernitana. It was a thoroughly deserved victory today, probably our best first half performance of the season.

“If you don’t go at 100km/h, you will struggle in modern football. We score many goals because we have talented players, otherwise we wouldn’t be so effective.”
