The Friulani are fresh from a 1-1 draw with Milan at San Siro, but remain only two points clear of the bottom three and are one point above today’s opponents.
“We could play with three at the back or four, the important thing is to have the right spirit on the pitch. The psychological aspect is crucial. Past games no longer matter, we cannot look at the past, only at the present and giving our all.
“I admire the Empoli identity they have built over time, but we know their strengths and weaknesses. Francesco Caputo has scored so many goals and Ismael Bennacer is a very impressive midfielder.”
Sandro is not 100 per cent fit, but is expected to start, while Bram Nuytinck, Antonin Barak and Valon Behrami are out of action.
Udinese squad for Empoli: Nicolas, Musso, Perisan; De Maio, Ekong, Opoku, Samir, Stryger, Ter Avest, Wilmot, Zeegelaar; Badu, D'Alessandro, De Paul, Fofana, Ingelsson, Mandragora, Micin, Sandro; Lasagna, Okaka, Pussetto, Teodorczyk
