Udinese Coach Igor Tudor believes that it was harder to avoid the drop this season than last year, as they had “more complicated matches this term.”

The Bianconeri travel to Sardegna to face Cagliari tonight with both sides mathematically safe and have nothing to play for except their position in the table.

“We want to end the season with a win,” he said at his pre-match Press conference.

“We had some players with some aches and pains during the week and we are without Marvin Zeegelaar who is suspended, so I will have to think about who will be able to take the field.

“We will go to Cagliari to try play our best football and finish the season with a win.

“I expect a hard-fought match, the weather forecasts don’t look good, but I expect all my players to put in the effort and desire to show their worth.”

Udinese are on 40 points along with Fiorentina, but due to various permutations and head-to-head records, it is impossible for them to be relegated this weekend.

“Staying up was tough, but we earned it through hard work and commitment, the key was to fight and learn from our mistake. That was the key to our success.”

“However, the differences between this season and last year was that we had to focus more mentally because we had suffered 11 defeats before I took over, this year we had more complicated matches.”

The Croatian tactician kept Le Zebrette up last term when he replaced Massimo Oddo, but wasn't given a contract during the summer, he was appointed as Coach in March of this year and yet again led his side in beating the drop.
