“It was an important victory,” the Croatian told Radio Rai1.

“We have two teams behind us, but they are breathing down our necks. The game was more difficult than it seemed, we started off well and kept our levels up until the end, and I'm happy for the lads who scored.

“It is easier when you take the lead, they kept pushing us back, but when you express your qualities on the field you can get a good result.

“We look ahead now to next week and we have to focus on that vital fixture on Saturday with SPAL.

“We hope we can get something out of it, we will play at home and we’ll keep an eye out for what goes on in the other matches.

“Hopefully something will happen in those ties to work in our favour.”
