Tributes continue to pour in for Sinisa Mihajlovic, as Bologna fans placed a banner outside the Stadio Dall’Ara and a minute’s silence was held in stadiums.

The Serbian former defender and coach passed away on Friday at the age of 53, over three years after he was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia.

He had continued to work as the coach of Bologna throughout his treatment, communicating with his staff and players via videolink from the hospital room.

The club fired him on September 6, much to the chagrin of the Bologna supporters, who amongst other things had held pilgrimages walking to churches and raised funds for research in his honour.

Bologna were meant to play a friendly match, which was cancelled following the news, so a banner was placed outside the Stadio Dall’Ara signed by the Curva Costa.

“Ciao Sinisa, you will always be one of us.”

Inter, who had Mihajlovic as both a player and assistant manager under Roberto Mancini, held a minute’s silence ahead of their friendly game against Real Betis.

So did Fiorentina before their 1-1 draw with AS Monaco at the Stadio Franchi.

A minute’s silence was held before every Serie B and Serie C game played this weekend in Italy.
