The captain spoke to the Corriere dello Sport about his campaign and looking to the future.

“We must put our faith in the work of director Walter Sabatini and do our best on the field to reduce the gap from Juventus.

“I never thought that we wouldn’t go into the Champions League. This season Juve deserved the Scudetto, as we had a slip-up and they proved to be stronger in the Champions League too.

“Now we can enjoy finishing second in consecutive campaigns and will try to do better next year.”

Totti will turn 39 in September and therefore Garcia is rationing out the match time.

“The Coach decides, I feel good and am at his disposal. The important thing is that Roma win.

“I have an excellent rapport with Garcia, he is a Coach who talks to everyone regularly and is well-prepared for every game. I am happy with that.

“Should I retire at 60? I’ll try… It is still early to talk about when I will quit. I am aware it will happen sooner or later, but I will certainly continue to work in my football school.

“I never thought of wearing a different club jersey. I chose to tie my career to the team that I love and I’m proud of that. I was repaid by the affection of the fans.”
